Warren O'Connor was a wealth man who is recalled by the webmaster for the lavish parties he held in his home on Lake Drive. During the 1970's and 1980's, an invitation to the Christmas Party at Warren O'Connor's mansion was the most covetted. By this time Warren was a classy older gentleman; he was a gracious host even to newcomers, as a hundred guests mingled in the common rooms of the first floor of the mansion. The food and drinks served were exceptional. I was invited several times to join a few close friends to talk in the kitchen, and on a few occasions was given a tour of the second floor living spaces by the host and one or two other young men.

The mansion, at 3319 N. Lake Drive, was built in 1913 for Paula and Erwin Uihlein (brother and sister, children of August Uihlein, who built the Schlitz Brewery). Designed by Milwaukee architects Kirchhoff & Rose, it is said to be adapted from a 17th century English priory. The brick and limestone structure is filled with English woodwork, fireplaces and paneling. The walled garden enclosed two greenhouses and a gatehouse. The wrought iron work on gates and doors is by famed Milwaukee ironworker Cyril Colnik.

After Warren's death (around 1990), his mansion was sold by the family, which was largely in denial of his sexual preference.

Any additional information about this person is welcome.
