An Obama Pride! GET-OUT-THE-VOTE party. Representatives of the Obama Presidential campaign were on hand with literature, buttons, lawn signs, etc., and several elected officials also attended and spoke briefly.

Our invitation read as follows:

"As a grassroots, born in Brew City, local organization, Milwaukee Guerrilla Gay Bar understands the power of people with bright ideas and motivation working from the ground up, to promote change in our community. We did it here in Milwaukee because you all turn out each month to shake up the local bar scene. We want to encourage Milwaukee's LGBT community to continue to promote needed change in our community and nation by supporting Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. The stakes are very high in this election and a few hundred people could decide who our next President is.

Obama supports and openly embraces the LGBT community and wants to erase discrimination in the workplace, the military, and in federal law. McCain does not. Obama supports women's reproductive rights and equal pay. McCain does not. Obama wants to expand rights for our LGBT families through adoption and recognition of our relationships federally. McCain does not. Wisconsin is a swing state and John Kerry won the state by an extremely narrow majority in 2004. The LGBT community in Wisconsin could ensure Obama's victory November 4th by getting our friends, family, and neighbors registered and OUT to vote!

Join us Friday night, October 3rd at 9:30pm for an all-night party at Wherehouse as we celebrate our inclusion in American politics and, of course, come together as we do the first Friday of every month to party! Join us for a drink, to dance, and to get pumped to vote for Obama! Volunteers will be registering people to vote and providing information on anything you need to know concerning the Obama campaign in Wisconsin and LGBT issues. Wherehouse will be providing for all of our guests free shots, no cover, and access to the VIP area!"
