Although there are indications that the GPU (Gay People's Union) was at the forefront of Pride celebrations in Milwaukee beginning in the late 1970's until about 1981, we have not yet found information about any particular organized or coordinated events in Milwaukee in 1978. However, one of the then-popular dance bars (The Baron, or Red Baron) did advertise their "Pride Week" specials, and there is an article on the GPU's participation in Chicago's gay pride parade that year.
