We're making history at Dancing With Our Stars

We are SO excited to share that Dan Terrio, community advisor, is one of this year's New Dancing with Our Stars contestants -- representing the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project.

Dan and his partner will be the first-ever same-sex dance team in DWOS history — and we will be the first-ever LGBTQ beneficiary of the program.   

Since 2023, DWOS has raised over $1M for Wisconsin charities. Shawn Kiser of Rally Man Entertainment is the creator and producer of NEW DWOS with support from the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation.

About Dan Terrio

"Green Bay shaped so much of my journey," said Dan.

"It’s where I spent 14 years of my life, attended St. Norbert College and UW-Green Bay, and launched my career. It’s where I first stepped into community service, and where I had the privilege of competing in the 2016 and 2018 Dancing With Our Stars events for the American Red Cross."

"Most importantly, Green Bay is where I stepped into Wisconsin LGBTQ history. In 2020, a simple Facebook post changed my life. My coming-out story went viral, opening doors I never expected—both for myself and for LGBTQ visibility in Northeast Wisconsin."

"That moment led me to Milwaukee County, where I became the first Native American director in county history and the highest-ranking Two-Spirit person in Wisconsin."

"But more than any title, the most meaningful part of this journey has been finding joy in life again and falling in love with the whole, authentic me. When I walked out of the closet, I walked into the best days of my life."

"At a time when LGBTQ voices and representation are being challenged and erased, the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project is doing the critical work of preserving our stories—ensuring that our struggles, triumphs, and contributions are never forgotten. I’m honored to represent this incredible organization and help raise funds to further our mission and reach."
