The Milwaukee Gay Guide was published by Fantastic Voyages, Inc., "a full service organization serving the gay community" (travel services, catering, dancers, disco systems, escorts/ models). The Guide was to be published twice a year for free distribution.

The first issue listed 18 bars, 4 restaurants, 2 baths, and 2 bookstores. In addition to display ads of various businesses, there was a brief writeup on Milwaukee atmosphere (shoreline and beaches, parks, even a mention of medical facilities).
