Grubb's Pub was opened in October 1990 as a "unique pub and grill serving food and drink" in the lower level (basement) of the popular 'La Cage' dance club (and later also 'Dance Dance Dance'). At first serving lite bar fare, it gradually branched out with sandwiches, and by May 1992, advertised "full food service" including light dinner entrees as well.

In August 1993 they also advertised "La Grill" although they never really explained what that was. By 1996 the 'La Grill' name had been dropped and it was just 'Gubb's Pub' again.
