Doubledays was yet another attempt to bring an LGBT restaurant into this space. But it was apparently extremely short-lived.

Doubledays is first listed in the Bar Guide of 'In Step' magazine in the November 9-22, 1989 issue. It is then mentioned in the February 1990 issue as follows: "Chuck, Steve and Steve and their staff provide fast-service Italian and Greek specialties, as well as char-broiled burgers and sandwiches. I've tried their lasagna, pizza, spaghetti, Italian beef & sausage sandwiches, as well as their gyros, grilled pita sandwiches since they've opened, and can recommend them all without a qualm.".

The only advertisement we have located is in the April 1990 issue of 'In Step'-- and that issue (vol. 7-07) is also the last time it is listed in the magazine's Bar Guide. We have not located any other advertisements or mentions of the business.

This was one of several restaurants/bars to operate in this same building in the 1970s to 1990s. One has to wonder if the location was jinxed, as of the 8 businesses, half closed within a year of opening:

• Black Forest Inn (approx. 9 months, August 1976-May 1977)
• Rainbow Grille (approx. 16 months, Oct. 1977- Feb. 1979)
• Moulin Rouge restaurant (perhaps 2 months, April-May 1979)
• Shadows/ Diplomat Cocktails & Dining (Feb. 1980-Sept. 1984)
• Hot Legs Video Nite Club lesbian bar (Dec. 1984-July 1987)
• Shadows II The Top Shelf bar (Dec. 1987-August 1989)
• Doubledays Restaurant (Nov. 1989-April 1990)
• Visions Video Night Club (Nov. 1991-Dec. 1991)
