After being vacant for about three years, the space formerly housing Za's bar was reopened in 2003 as XS (sometimes called Club XS) by new owners Rob Heinritz and Rod Schroeder as a mixed (gay & straight) dance bar.

The first LGBT bar at this location had been Za's, which after a short stay on Bodart Way moved to this building at 1106 Main Street in 1991. But around 2000, co-owner Ken Kujava died unexpectedly, and the bar closed within a year. The other owner, Mark 'Za' Mariucci, opened another bar, Za's Historical West Theatre, in 2002.

So on Thursday, July 23, 2009, 'Za' (Mark Mariucci) joined DJ Carl in the XS DJ booth to spin customers back in time with some of the music video clips that made them famous at the two Za's bars. Drag cameo performers were also there, as well as a few surprises, to celebrate a legend known as Za's.
