Downtown Express was a combination bar/ restaurant in Eau Claire that came up for sale in October 1987. A January 15, 1988 newspaper gave public notice that Donny Hagar, John Loy and David Ashton had applied for the liquor license. And thus the place re-opened as an acknowledged LGBT bar.

Unfortunately, the owner of the building lost it in a bankruptcy in January 1990- and the bar was forced to close.
