James J. Schnieders was manager of the Wreck Room when he passed away in 1987, but worked with many others in the community on various community projects. He was a driving force in the Wreck Room's annual Shamrock Sale for Muscular Dystrophy. An officer of Silver Star M.C., he spearheaded the annual Chirstmas toy drive to benefit the Milwaukee County Childrens Home.

The Monday Night Irregulars bowling league, of which Jimmy was secretary, was his greatest love next to the bar and community. His salary as secretary was always put back in the league to purchase pins and special awards. Jimmy also helped organize the Milwaukee end of the "MIL-MA-IDS Bowling Tournament" to benefit the Madison AIDS SUpport Network, and looked forward to the benefit moving to Milwaukee this year in its annual rotation.

During the "Run for AIDS" the summer of 1986, Jimmy hosted a party at the Wreck Room; under his direction they raised more for that cause than the rest of the city's bars combined.

The "Pageant" Committee (which ran the annual Mr. and Miss Gay Wisconsin pageant) presented a special award to Jimmy just prior to his death for his contributions to that organization.
